07/01/2011 Entry: "Concerts I've listened to, June 2011"

  • 1972-02-17 Pink Floyd London UK Rainbow Theatre - Night one of the four night stand. From the new Godfatherecords box set. So nice. I like having the entire Rainbow run.

  • 2010-03-06 Muse Boston MA TD Garden - 3 source matrix! Really really nice sound. And as usual, it completely rocks!

  • 1980-06-01 OMD Boston MA The Underground - 35 minute set. Seems complete from the notes though. Sounds about what you think a club show in 1980 should sound like. Wow... Crowd was not happy that it was a short set either.

  • 2011-06-03 Pet Shop Boys Manchester UK City Of Manchester Stadium - Short opening set for Take That (really?). Really distant recording.

  • 1993-07-03 New Order Roskilde Denmark Roskilde Festival - Really? An audience this good from a festival?

  • 1978-12-08 Bruce Springsteen Houston TX The Summit - From the Promise box set. Can't believe I've never listened to this show before. I may not have been paying attention to the fact that there was a pro-shot for it.

  • 1992-06-04 The Cure Miami FL Miami Arena - About a week or so after I was in a car accident going to Miami Area to seen Clapton I was back to see the Cure. Great show. Tapes have been impossible to find. Finally found some MP3s of the show. Seems like really good sound, so why so hard to find? Must keep looking. 15 minute Forest!

  • 2011-03-16 OMD Oakland CA Fox Theater - The thing I like about all the new OMD shows is that they sound excellent. This is no exception.

  • 1972-02-19 Pink Floyd London UK Rainbow Theatre - Night three. Sound not as good. Pretty hissy.

  • 1991-10-25 Rush Hamilton Canada Copps Coliseum - Alex's feed in one ear, an ambient mix in the other. Kinda interesting and annoying at the same time.

  • 1971-03-07 Genesis Woluwe St Lambert Belgium La Ferme - Again! Remastered from 2nd gen tape. One of the earliest known Genesis live recordings, and perhaps their first show outside of the UK. Pretty hissy but a really strange set list.

  • 1989-09-03 Inspiral Carpets Birmingham UK Burberries - I don't believe I've ever listened to an Inspiral Carpets show. I would love a tape of when I saw them at First Ave in '91.

  • 2011-05-22 Muse Moscow Russia Olympiyskiy Sports Palace - Fantastic sound. Really great sound.

  • 1972-02-20 Pink Floyd London UK Rainbow Theatre - Night four. Best known of the four. Fantastic sound.

  • 1983-07-24 Buddy Guy/Clarence Clemons/Stevie Ray Vaughn New York NY Pier 84 - A Special Olympics benefit with Aerosmith, SRV, Alex Lifeson (Seriously???) and my doppelganger John McEnroe & Vitas Gerulitis. And! It's a soundboard! RIP Big Man!

  • 1993-03-20 Daniel Ash Chicago IL Caberet Metro - Only because I've never seen the show a few days later from First Ave that I was at. Really nice sound. I can't remember a thing about it show other than a long version of Gimme Some Lovin'.

  • 1971-08-09 Pink Floyd Osaka Japan Festival Hall - From silvers! Cleaned up nicely.

  • 1980-08-23 Talking Heads Bomanville Canada Mosport Park - Soundboard! Nothing to complain about. Apparently it's the first date of the Remain In Light tour with the expanded band.

  • 2011-06-24 U2 Glastonbury UK Glastonbury Festival - broadcast. I'm glad I saw them in the '87-'97 era. Oh sure, 2001 was OK, and before '87 would have been great too. But The last 10 years or so just haven't been super interesting tour wise.
