05/17/2005 Entry: "Day 4: IBM zBLC in Montpellier"

Today was a rather relaxed day. I enjoyed my morning. I was by myself for most of it. I skipped my morning session (since there was nothing that I was interested in) and caught up on work and personal email. There's not much going on in the world except for the Star Wars premiere, and I just wasn't close enough to Cannes to go.

Finally I had to speak up on a feedback session. We have some serious concerns about ISV support, so I raised them. The zBLC is primarily focused on z/OS so we really have to make a big deal about zLinux support. I think that I started to get my point across. I also think that IBM is missing an opportunity in the ISV community by not selling the power of writing to the J2EE specification and making platform differences their own problem, not the problem of the customer or ISV.

I met some good contacts today in the WebSphere Marketing, WBI, zLinux, and performance groups. Hopefully I use my zBLC participate to work with this people more in the future.

Tonight everyone went to some random castle/chateaux for dinner. It was nice. I met some of the key zLinux people there as well a nice performance guy. These late nights at dinner get old fast though. I got home at 11.30! So now I need to go to sleep.

Are there any Content Management ISVs supporting zLinux?
