05/17/2005 Entry: "Montpellier trend report"

Here's what I'm noticing on the streets of Montpellier:

Very small cars, no SUVs.
Housing pricing are very high. Prices in general are high for most things.
Everyone wears backpacks.
Crop pants or capris on men seem to be acceptable.
Women are still wearing shorter shirts with slightly exposed stomachs. Pants are still riding low on the hips. Some are wearing very long shirt (that kinda turn into short skirts) over pants.
Everyone is wearing jeans.
Scooping up after your dog is a non-event.
iPods are not as popular as in New York, but cell phones are ubiqitous.
This is not a tourist town and not a lot of people speak english.
Star Wars opens here tomorrow!
