[Previous entry: "Settling in the hotel"] [Main Index] [Next entry: "A cold, rainy New Orleans Sunday"] 03/02/2002 Entry: "Saturday night in New Orleans" I-Sung and I went to Riverwalk for dinner. It was ok. Nothing special. We should have gone back to the Quarter. After dinner I wandered over to Tower Records and the Virgin Megastore. As much as I really really want both of them to open in Minneapolis, I was underwhelmed. Once again, I think that the internet has ruined yet another aspect of shopping. A couple of years ago after going shopping in Greenwich Village I had the same feeling. Oh well. I did however see the Echoes 4 LP box set at Tower and some of the Japanese mini-LP style CDs. Oh, I just want to libertate all of the cool, unpurchased Pink Floyd stuff. Bourbon Street. Yeah... it's pretty much what I expected. It's nuts. What a party. The bad bad bad thing is that the only beer you can buy and walk around with is Bud and Bud light. I don't think that has anything to do with the fact that the Anheuser-Busch Wholesaler's Convention is in town. But it is the popular beer out and about. I hung out somewhere and listened to some jazz. It was great.... it's too bad I missed most of the set. The streets were packed. People were throwing beads up to people and down to people. Body parts were exposed on the street and up above. Lots of interesting place and people. I think that it will be interesting to see what it's like there during the week. That's it for me, it's only day one.
